If you read this blog on a regular basis you've probably noticed the welcome message on the left side of the page that says, "I make up to $2,000 per month working only 1-2 hours a day." Not bad, eh? A lot of freelance writers I know don't think this is possible. They grab $3 articles from auction sites like oDesk and Elance, then work their fingers to the bone to bang out enough of these little stinkers to keep their power on.
Now, I admit, I'm lazy. Belting out article after article eight hours per day, seven days a week just seems like too much work. I like to work smarter, not harder, so I end up writing higher paying articles, clips and how-tos a couple hours a day.
Oh sure, you're probably saying, as if higher paying articles are just ripe for the picking!
Look, I'm not talking about Cosmo rates, here. I'm talking about articles that pay in the $20-$50 range. These are easy enough to get if you have some sort of writing talent, and often only take an hour to type up. Let's look at the math:
- Three $20 articles per day, two to three hours of work per day, seven days per week = $1,800 per month.
- Two $30 articles per day, two to three hours of work per day, seven days per week = $1,800 per month.
- Two $40 articles per day, two to three hours of work per day, seven days per week = $2,400 per month.
- One $50 articles per day, one or two hours of work per day, seven days per week = $1,500 per month.
- Two $50 articles per day, two to three hours of work per day, seven days per week = $3,000 per month.
Okay, you're probably still thinking, ya that's great, but where do I find the work?
Here are some places to look and some books to read on finding clients:
